  • Horny XS

I knew this title would get your attention XSives.......... So here it is I need a horn for my machine. Yes i have looked on Epay and can buy an original replacement however I am looking for a possible alternative. I notice the two horn Hi-Lo combo and I also see the Maxim Virago had an interesting style............. I also want it or them to look clean as I am planning on mounting on the front of the lower portion of the triple tree.
I was riding today and needed to give someone a not so polite blast and nothing.....

I am very partial to Fiamm horns. These have a distinctive red cover on them but can be painted. The electric pair has a very authoritive, very loud blast. The blast rivals air horns but are much easier to mount (no compressor). These can be had for around $20 from Checker/Advance/ O'reillys. It take a bit of creative mounting and you can use the OEM wiring to make em work. I usually get 4-5 years out of a pair.
    When a 10 isn't enough, get a 11. 80g Hardbagger

I'll second that. I've used the Fiamm horns on a couple of bikes and other projects. They are much louder than stock and are pretty easy to mount. I once hid the air horn set on a sportbike under the fairings, that was a surprise to anyone who happened to be near me when I hit the horn on that one.

I've got a Stebel Nautilus air horn on my shadow. Like this one . Its loud! Basically the same as the "bad boy" but in a different package. I'm sure their both made in the same factory in china or wherever. I've been pleased with it and plan to get one for my 11 sometime, probably over the winter. You can get them locally to, I've seen them at Meijers, Walmart, AutoZone ect. They were actually cheaper local then online.

My Maxim has a Bosch horn on it. I believe it is for a car or truck. PO put it on when he rode in city traffic. I'm not sure of the model but it's red with a big chrome grille on the end of the trumpet!

              And it's plenty loud too!
