  • 750/850 carbs?

I have read a lot about the 650 carbs are a match to the 1100 carbs, but I haven't read anything about 750/850 carbs. Does anyone know how compatable they are to the 1100?? Inquiring mind wants to know!

I have seen differences in the 750's, like having 4 holes on the inlet side like the 80-81 11's but having the idle mixture screws like the 79's. Might be able to use 4 750's with proper jets and whatnot but I don't know about mixing the 750's w/ the 11's. They also have/had 130 mains.
Emulsion tubes, pilots, air jets???? Will take a look at them tomorrow a see what I find.

The 2 750 carbs I have, I beleive they are 78 or 79, not 100% on that, have the 4 holes in the bell and don't have the vent tube in the side like just like the 80/81 11's. These 750 carbs have the screw in float seats, the idle mixture screws and the screw plug in the bottom on the pilot tower like the 78/79 11's. These bowls fit the 78/79's. These 750 carbs diaphragms and slides fit the 78/79 11's BUT the needle is different taper than the 11's. The top caps are different but looks like they will work. The slide springs are shorter.

what is the advantage of using carbs from a smaller bike? This is new to me, are they easier to tune or cheaper perhaps ? I know about flat or round slide racing carbs, my budy had flat slides on kis 1200 Kaw. I didn't really like em that well. To little throtle response. it was all or nothing .

Just another source of carbs for these 30 year bikes as they are not making any more carbs. Yamaha used the same style carbs on several different size bikes, and enterprising XS1100 owners are very inventive in seeking out the same style carbs to use on their bikes, with just re-jetting.

I know the XS750 has Mikuni carbs, but I don't know if the size is a match. The XS850 has Hitachi carbs. The early XS650 has BS38 and the late have BS34 that are a match to the XS1100.

              The reason

That I asked the guestion is that I found a trio of 750 carbs for 30 bucks. My no. 2 carb is questionable, so I thought.....
