New Koni Shock Absorbers

Hi All
I've just found out that Koni shocks are now being made by Prove Products under the mane of Ikon. Proven Products bought the original tooling and commenced production in Australia with KONI's blessing.

It's interesting to see that "Konis" are back. I'm curious how Hagon shocks compare to the Ikons, especially considering they are over $100 less than the Ikons.

Gary - did you replace your stock shocks with the Koni's? If so, were the stocks broken or worn out? Just wondering how much of a difference there is between the stocks and Koni's. No doubt the Koni's are sweet, but my shocks seem to be ok. I'm just trying to figure out the biggest bang for the buck for my limited funds (already have some earmarked for new Dunlop 491 Elite tires ).

Progressives are good, Koni's (now Ikon) were very highly regarded, Hagons seem to be a good alternative. One thing I like about the Ikon and Hagon shocks is that their style matches the originals better than Progressive.

Yes I replaced them about 3 years ago. Originals were stiff and no amount of adjustment made them comfortable, they constantly hammered my back. I replaced them and could not believe the difference, then new shocks were an amazing change. I also had tons of adjustment with the new ones. in my case it was the best $$ I have ever spent on the bike. If yours seem OK, then maybe they are. Mine just did not work for me.

They "seem" ok, but I will admit that after riding for awhile, my back is often sore. hmmmmm Any thoughts about cheaper new shocks (j.c. whipme, etc.) vs. name brands (Ikon, Hagon, Progressive)?

PartsnMore has inexpensive replacement shocks. I don't have any experience with their shocks, but other parts I've ordered from them are excellent. Has anybody tried out these shocks?

I just bought the parstnmore shocks, ill let you know how there once they come in.

I priced out a set of progressive 412's at the local shop today for $231. The partsnmore shocks sound are a little closer to my price range though so I'd be really interested to know what you think of them.

I just put on a set of 412's I got from my local YAMAHA shop ($185). I'm crazy about them. They really improved the handling of my 80 Special. I had him order some for an H-D, they're shorter and lowered my bike about an inch & a half, if I had any complaint I'd say they ride a little stiff, but worth it for thr improved handling. Just my opinion!!!

Hi Nomad, as the angles go thru my head...how does your bike handle going real slo...like in a parkin lot with everbody in the way...and what changes did it make at "passing speed" just curious...

I'm real pleased with the handling, high speed and slow. Before it always seemed to be bar heavy at low speed. Like waiting to make a left turn or parking/ backing up etc... I was concerned that this might get worse by changing the rake and trail, but it improved greatly. It seems like a much lighter bike at slow speeds, I really like it. And as I've said in other posts, I can't hardly believe how it handles now at speed. I'm waiting for my Tkat brace, should see it early next week, to see how much more improvement it can make. I might just have to go out and play with the young sport bike boys.
