brakes headaches
here's latest prob i,ve encountered. i've recently [within 300 miles or so] rebuilt all calipers on my 1980 mns. the rear was a total rebuild with seals and piston. the fronts were seals only, as i thought the pistons were on pretty good shape [probably my 1st mistake]. anyway it seems that they all hang up at some point or another. in the front it is both, not just one side and the rear. any one else had this headache??

Have you lubed the slide pins and the mounting bolts? What about the master cylinders, have you rebuilt them? They can hang up from crud buildup, too. Do a search here for 'spooge', you'll find how to clear the m/c's.
One more thing. If your brake lines are originals, they can disintegrate internally from age, blocking the lines.Last edited by randy; 09-02-2008, 06:09 AM. -
I agree. Sounds like you need to clean that "Spooge" hole in the master cylinder. This is your return passage after releasing the brake, and if it's clogged, they can't release all the way.

FYI, i have rebuilt the front master cyl. but the rear seemed to have been workin o.k til now. will reserch spooge hole.testing 1-2-3
