also what is meant by the varioius speed ratings? The K491's have an H speed rating. I assume they won't give me problems at speeds approaching and occasionally exceeding the triple digits.

Check out this link for answers to the questions you have on tire size and speed rating. It helped me.

thanks that helps a lot - so looks like the tires I need are:

        (25112) $63.95 Dunlop K491 Elite II MM90H19 Front Tire
        and
        (26301) $84.95 Dunlop K491 Elite II MT90HB16 Rear Tire

Is this what I should run? I've read a lot of people running a larger tire on the back - I assume it would be the MT90HB17??? - what advantage would I see by going with a larger tire?

Now am I correct to assume that the bike shop will probably not have these tires on hand? About how long can I expect to wait? I realize that will probably vary considerably, I just don't want to go tearing things apart too early and be without something to ride for weeks upon weeks.

sorry for the dumb questions i've never had this done before.

The MT90HB17 would require a 17" rim and would not be any wider then the MT90B16. The MU90B16 is the next size wider but it requires a 3.5" wide rim. I think that this is measure as the inside width of the rim. I thought about trying the MU, but my rear rim only measure 3.5" between the outside edges of the rim and I didn't want to get stuck with a tire that wouldn't fit. Maybe someone else has tried the MU90BH16.

It's a personal thing but I would spent the extra money and get the raised white letters. Mays the bike look sportier. Just my opinion.

The 17 is for the diameter of the wheel and will not fit on a 16 inch rim.

            (25112) $63.95 Dunlop K491 Elite II MM90H19 Front Tire
These are the tires I have on my SF and I am pleased with them.

About how long can I expect to wait?
I ordered my online and took about a week to recieve them. If you are thinking of ordering from MAW e-mail them and ask for a quote including shipping and handling. I found that other companies may have a higher price on their tires but shipping and handling was cheaper.

            Hope this helps!!
