    Might take a look here
    http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread...=&threadid=138

I tried the above but would not work for me.
I made this from a FUBARed tap which I then held with a vise grip and a single tap on the grip with a wrench popped em right out.

The plyer idea did not work out and have not got around to fixing it. Notice that the tip of the ground tap is almost the same size as the broken pilot tip in photo but has sorta of a blunt end.

If you try the push pin method, use a fine file to flatten the end of the pin so it does not slip off the end of the broken point.

I just used the round part of a phillips screwdriver.

Reached in, pushed up. Popped them out no problem.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

If you were not so far away would give ya a hand.
If no further damage...might still be OK but won't know until you try to adjust the pilot screws.

TC (the administrator here) happens to have a very cool replacement fuse box and it's very reasonably priced (if you have not got around to replacing yours that is )

Someday may do more than just tinker with my LG. Spend too much time goofing off and not enough working

                            Maybe, but not likely.

You can use any year of carbs on any year of XS1100, but every year, and nearly every model had subtle changes to the carbs.

You would be better off to try to find a bank of 4 good carbs to use, if you can't get yours figured out.

As for the tips, there is no reason for them to be badly stuck. The only thing that breaks them off is over tightening them down into the bore. Normally, they are not touching the sides at all, at the tip.

It's just a matter of finding a way to push the broken tip(s) back up into the screw bore without making the hole bigger.

as I mentioned, I used the round part of a phillips screwdriver. I just put the side of the shaft against the tip and pushed up.

If I understand it right. The 78 and 79 carbs seat on a taper ,that is why they get stuck when seated to hard. The 80 and 81 dont seat on the taper the holes are a little different..So
it doesnt tipically happen to them.So it can be very difficult to free them in earlier carbs.Heating them up might work.Or maybe grind a special tool for a mill?
