  • Starting a new region !

Hey guys I've been noticing a lot of growth in the "actual central" part of the U.S.A. ! It's too far for me to ride too Houston or Penn. or Maine even tho' I'm just dying to go! But.........I would or could ride a little closer to home. Just seems to make sense. Guys like Bikerhawk, Nomad, Ron Moss ,etc could maybe have have a little Rondezvous & still get home at a decent time. I know there would be a lot more people possible , those names just came to mind. Am I crazy? Does anyone else feel like this? I never have been much of a "joiner" but riden' is a little differant. What do you think guys should we get together a few times before the summers over?????????????????????????????????????????????? Garry

I feel the same way here in Southern Illinois. Kind of left out in the middle of NO Where. Great riding to be had around here and only the HOGGS to share it with.

Boy that last little cold snap sure put a damper on this thread! My bike hasn't really earned my total trust yet for a really LONG haul , but it would be really cool if some of us could ride a little while together! I might even (God forbid) haul mine just to spend time with another XS'r. Has anyone ever done such a lowdown deed? I do see where some guys actually ride other brands of bikes. My thinking was if I broke down a couple hundred miles away from home I wouldn't have to walk the whole way, just to the motel. I do have to work some LOL Do you guys in the Midwest have any cool riding places in mind? Branson area maybe? Just trying to get something going!!!!!!!!!! Garry

              Garry,

If you get close to Nashville, give me a ring. I am out of work this year and looking for rides. The local chaper of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America has a nice ride this Saturday just south of Nashville.

Boy did the weather ever suck for that!!! thats why I took so long to answer this. Been thinking tho (very dangerous) we could call this region MidWest , WOW what thought! Garry

I'm down in Bella Vista, AR, and I'd be interested in meeting up w/ folks who like to ride - especially others w/ the same type of bike that I have.

Wouldn't it be cool if we could ride thru everybodies hometown, what a blast that would be!! The way my business has been going It won't be a very long ride for me, maybe a day. maybe in july ? Frustrated 1 I know what your talking about! I think it's really neat how differant some of these bikes look even tho we know they are pretty much the same! right now I need to get to work on figuring out a headlite problem & adjusting my valves & I should be good to go! I also bought a set of '80 carbs to play with while I ride with these. (well actually at differant times, the little pieces are too hard to find on the road!) Garry

Antique Motorcycle Club of America Ride

My son and I went on a ride, this Saturday, that was sponsored by the Music City chapter of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America. We rode for 186 miles with stops in Bell Buckle, Tullahoma, Winchester and Lynchburg, Tennessee. We toured the Jack Daniels distillery in Lynchburg and then headed back to Nashville through Shelbyville and more small towns than you care to hear about. The temp was less than 50 when we started but was almost 80 and sunny by the afternoon. I guess the rides are out there if you look for them.

I forgot to mention the bikes that were there.

There was an Indian, two nineteen forty-something HDs, early seventies BMWs, a Honda 750 four, a Seca 650, a couple of late model HDs, a Gold Wing, some old Italian bike that I can't remember the name of, an early seventies Honda 305, a new BMW, my XS100SH and others. The guys with the Vincents didn't show up.

When we stopped for gas, we met a man that said he built race bikes for years and had been to the Daytona 200 for 51 straight years.

A very interesting day with some serious motorcyle people.
