Your right, I've never heard of floating rotors, and no, 'idiot' was not the next word... or even in the offing at any stage.

More like "Floating rotor, what the heck is that?"

I drilled my rotors (the ones on the bike, I have no others), all 3, in about an hour, with a $9 set of drill bits in Derwat's drill press as I don't have a garage.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

Though I must say, I still love eBay. I haven't really been burned there before.
Then you haven't used it enough!

          Just a note about EBC.

I also bought a set of rotors from Karla at Mirriam Cycles via Ebay.

Unfortunately they had only an MD2024RS and an MD2024 which are the rear and the right side front rotors. They thought that what they had were the pair of front rotors.

          I contacted:

          John Romero
          EBC Brakes U.S.A.
          Orders & Tech Support
          JohnR@ebcbrakesusa.com
          (818) 362-5467 Ext. 228

And he stated that he would get me the MD2024LS which is the left front rotor in exchange for the MD2024 (rear).

I went ahead and bid on the rotors and got them for a steal... ($149 for the pair).

John ordered the replacement rotor direct from England (which took several weeks to arrive). He shipped it to me free of charge and they paid for the return shipping of the MD2024.

I was worried that the rotors I had may be of an older style but they were a perfect match.

Not many companies will do this kind of thing for you, and I applaud the way they stand behind their products in this day and age.

The main advantages of these rotors is that there is a noticeable reduction in unsprung weight, more even pad wear, and a more modern look.

PS. It does say on the box that if the (new) rotors feel loose they should be returned.

SWEET! this is the info I was hopeing for thank you, thank you thank you. I may have gotton the same thing actually one rotor is slightly different from the other. The loose one has counter sunk mounting bolt holes & the logo printed. this is the non designated (rear?) the other one has no logo & no counter sunk holes. I may just order the frnt. Left side & exchange the loose rear, then I'll have a full set.
I hope you don't mind me using your contact at EBC I won't tell where I got the info. I tried to call the phone # on the box but it went to an ambiguous answering box. Also emailed via the link on EBC's site about 5 days ago, still no answer.

              LOL!

Sounds like you got exactly the same set of two from Mirriam's that I got.

I wonder where the heck all the left side rotors at Mirriam's went?

What secret of the missing MD2024LS died with Bob Jones?

Don't worry about whether John at EBC knows if you got the info from me...in fact it would be WAY too big a coincidence for him not to connect the dots (he'll probably think he got caught up in some kinda weird scam)...instead (if he says anything) I would suggest that you direct him to this site and this thread... show him the favorable testimony and remind him that there are several thousands of members on this site.

It's always good advertising to stand behind your product.

Uh... but wouldn't a brake company want to stay behind the competition?
                        Ich habe dich nicht gefragt.
