  • rim size?

well its time to put a new tire on the back of my 78e which is a 17" rim i have a set of 80 special rims to put on it but the rear is 16" does it matter other in hight and will my 78 caliper fit on the 80 tubless rim ?
    thanks!

    rim

The rim and caliper will fit, but you will have to remove the right side axle spacer that the Standard uses. The Special rim is wider and requires a smaller spacer. Other than that, it shouldn't be a problem.

        spacer

I just went and looked at my Special, and there is just a thin washer type spacer (about 1/8 inch). The tension bar also looks a little different. There's a fella on this site, Andreas, that probably has everything you need. I'm sure someone else will chime in that can offer more info. Here's a link to a exploded diagram for the 16" wheel, and they also carry some of the parts.

            parts bike

If you get all the rear wheel mounting hardware including the tension plate off a Special, you should be good to go.

No problem. Sorry that link didn't work. If you go to Bikebandit.com, you can find the diagram under OEM parts. Good luck!
