Bent Shift Forks

My bike wont shift into second and when it does, it pops out. The guy who sold it to me thinks I bent the shift forks. I am not much of a mechanic, but am willing to try.

I have a manual but would like to know what I am getting into as far as difficultly goes.

I'd rather not spend thousands on the bike at the shop.

Do a search for 2nd gear fix. If you are half handy with tools at all, you can do this with the engine still in the bike. It only sounds hard.

Second gear fix be one of the more arduous XS tasks but can be done by most mechanically inclined people... There might be an XSer near you who might lend a hand or do the job for reasonable $$$
