Went for a long ride today to check the mileage. Well i am doing a lot better. Going rather fast (about 135km per hour) i was getting 34 mpg. Then on the way back we did about 110 kph and i got 40mpg. Oh i figuered out that my bike doesn't like running cold. thats why it bobbled the other night in the high end. the motor was cold. Once it warms up the motor revs to the top just fine.

I have switches for all my power stuff. so have to make choses as to what i run. I can run one thing at a time or two for a short time that all. working on getting low power lights to concerve power as much as i can. But now that i know that it'snot that big a deal.

I experienced a few "wuffs" last night but as it turned out, it was just the Mexican food I ate.

After some longer trips (1500 to 2000 kms) each my rough average is 35 mpg imperial at 120 to 130 kmph and about 40 at 90 to 100. I am wondering if I do the 750 mod will I be happy with the mileage? I am either gonna spend some money on this one and bring the cosmetics up a lot or replace it with a bike that gets a lot better gas mileage. I am thinking of adventure tourer. If we had cheap insurance rates here I would keep the special as it is a hoot to ride but I really can't afford to. When we tour it is with two bikes so the gas starts to hurt. So does the insurance as it is based on the size of the engine. Stupid way to charge for insurance. With two bikes that are both a litre or better it sucks.

I am not sure about the mileage, but I think you will be very happy with the attitude of the bike itself, after doing the 750FD mod.

It makes a world of difference to how quiet and smooth it runs at your normal speeds.
