    Handgrips for an '82 XJ

well i went out to the local Yamaha dealer and bought replacement handgrips for the bike. The stock size is too small and my hands go to sleep in abt ten mins or less..So I cut off the stock grips and start to install the new ones and they are too big on th inside diameter.SO what I want is a thick foam type grip that is wider around its circumference and thus less strain on the hands...Does anyone know where I could find these? The local Yamaha shop doesnt have what I want

Sounds like you got grips for 1" diameter bars. Can you return them and exchange them for 7/8" diameter?

I'm in the market for new grips for the exact same reason and am interested to hear the outcome.

I also have seen foam covers that go over the stock grips therby negating the task of removing the stock grips, and they can be replaced easliy enough when they get worn.

I was even thinking about wrapping rubber strips around the grips to help with the diameter and vibration. We'll see...

I bought a set of gel grips on ebay that are excellent. Very comfortable. I would highly recommend them.

Would help if you specified which brand...and how much they were?
