Ok this is gonna sound waaaaay out there but my dog,Page loves going for rides and i need to afix some kind of basket deal somewhere up front so that she can just stick her goggled head out yet remain secure.she's about a 10lb dog .Anyone ever make a doggy carrier? besides side car?

That's not a dog! 10-pounds is a TOY. . .I say this as I look at two Great Danes and an Irish Wolfhound taking up half my room space.
There are several dog seat belt configurations that my friends with small dogs use to secure their dogs in their car seats. Several of these are basket-y kinds of things with padded sides and snap leashes inside that keep the dog from jumping out. I think they got them at either www.dog.com , or or Foster and Smith (I don't have their site handy). I would think that you could make a hard-side, stable container, then put these in it, or strap these on the tank in front of you.
There is one other site, http://www.petedge.com that you can try that is a very large catalog.
I often think about getting a little dog. . .nah

Greeaaaat... That's like telling a parent that their kid is a runt! lol.
I like a bigger dog myself, BUT... a smaller dog does have it's advantages. Less food, less poop... and with all the riding I do alone, it would be cool to have some company... and there's no way in %$#& that any of the dogs I have previously owned could be brought on the bike... without a sidecar! lol.
I think some sort of tank setup would be the optimal situation also so you could keep an eye on the dog.. scratch it's head occasionally.. saliva splashing back against your face shield... (OK, not so much the last part..)

Hey, I LIKE Runts, especially the yellow, banana-y flavored ones.
There is a guy here locally with a GL and it has a little hitch. Attached to the hitch is a very small trailer, and he takes his German Shepard everywhere. The Shepard has this pair of goggles that are too cute and a bandana that says "Bad to the Bone."
I know what you mean when you say that it would be nice to have a companion on trips, but I kinda like the solitude. . .

My luck.. somebody would pull up and rev their motor.. and I'd take off.. forgetting about poor Fido. All of a sudden remember and find him laying in the corner all balled up shivering from fear! lol.Try your hardest to be the kind of person your dog thinks you are.

my dad use to have a dog that out sit up on the tank and ride with him and my mom. I dont remember what kind of dog it was tho, but i know it was more than 20lbs.1979 XS1100 SF "Black Goblin"

My wife's weiner dog used to like to ride on my tank, but I found out the air coming up under the fairing and around the forks was having a ram air effect up his nose and blowing him up like a balloon, so I quite taking him. It's something to watch out for.

What about a milk carton tied to the handle bars, ET style?

I've seen that done although on a tail rack not the seat with a piece of carpeting cut to fit the bottom. They also had a very short leash and a harness to keep him from jumping out. The owner took that dog with her almost everywhere.Originally posted by Ivan

my buddy Norm would shove his 3-legged toy poodle down the front of his leather jacket to take him for rides.
Incidentally, I heard on another forum that in Australia it is now a crime to carry any animal on your motorcycle gas tank so perhaps Norm's way was best.Fred Hill, S'toon
