  • Wheels and brakes? Mikes XS switch blocks

OK, I guess this would have been covered before, but I have not been able to find it by searching the threads.
Front and rear axle seals, bearings, are these the same as are fitted to the xs650?If so mikes xs could supply them?
I asume that because a lot of the parts are interchangable, that wheel bearings and seals should be the same, I
    Next
Brake caliper seal kits, again are these the same as the xs650 kits, for the same reason. Mikes xs is a good site for stuff as I have already found.

    now

I ordered and recieved the switch new blocks from mikes xs to replace my tatty units which were also playing mystery games with me. Although the units are different in some things with a little tinkering I was able to change a couple of things that make these xs650 switch blocks work perfectly on the esessive.
The easy part was replacing the 650 wire loom with the 1100 wire loom, couple of screws, bit of soldering and a perfect match for the left block. Plug it in ..done, indercators now work!
The right block was a tad different.
I ordered the unit without the light switch, because the 650 light switch is just an off/on swith with no park light.
This meant that the new switch block did not have a slot in it for the light switch, yet inside the casing is the mount for said switch. So out with the dremel, grind out a nice little relieif for the switch lever, again change the 1100 guts over into the 650 housing.
Magic. Fitted and all lights working as OME.
Two brand new looking switch blocks, wiring the same as origi,
just one little thing that I have addapted to my xsessive so far.

If you look in the links section there is a link to a coss reference site. All you do is register and then you can enter a part number or description and it will tell you what other bikes used that same part. So for instance you could look up the rear axle seals and it would tell you what other year xs used that seal (all it think) and also if the same seal was used on 650's.
