  • half moon cam plugs

I did a search on the valve cover gasket and half moon cam plugs that come seperate for the xj1100, could not find them on Dennis Kirk for this model. Anyone know the best and cheapest place to get both of these gasket sets?
Really the half-moon gaskets are the only one leaking but I understand that you have to remove the valve cover gasket to replace these, is this right, or could I just put some sealer on these half moon gaskets (if I get them clean enough) ?
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Seems to me that I read that the dealers may still be able to get them.

Thanks Olebiker, but I did check on the half moon gaskets and the parts guy indicated he could'nt get them.
I guess I'll check somewhere else since he may have been a bit green.
I was hoping to get cheaper than dealer prices also, and was wondering if I could stop them from leaking without removing the non-leaking valve cover gasket, any thoughts, thanks.

        cam plugs

Bikebandit.com carries those plugs. $7.12 apiece. The valve cover has to be removed to replace them. You can re-use them if installed with a bead of ATV black around them. Partsnmore.net carries them for $3, but they're out of stock right now. HTH

yep I just put mine in from bike bandit and they are yamaha parts so I would think any dealer should be able to get them. I would replace the gasket to with my luck if it could have been done without removing the valve cover it would have started leaking next. But thats just me. and mine needed both. replaced the cam chain tensioner gasket, oring, and end plug as well. not a bad job any way didnt take to long

xschop is going to be selling some billet replacements for those silly gaskets. I think he posted that a pair will be around $30. A search should turn up the thread.

              Hey guys,

I found them both on e-bay, the plugs were 1.99 apiece with 8.95 shipping and the valve cover gasket I found for $12 and I cant remember the shipping on that, but I think I paid about $24 bucks total, not bad I thought. thanks all for your comments.

Oh the plugs cam from Ironpony
and the gasket from georgefix (or something like that, they were e-bay store buy it now auctions)
