thanks bowtie, yep, all just simple stuff, for the most part, i've probobly got 6-8 hours (half in paint work) changing this from the old dresser to what you see now, and probobly under 150 bucks in ebay junk and paint, not bad for a total of 450 bucks, heres the bike that inspired me based on his lines and looks, not sure whos it is, think it was an 81 special if i remember right, something on car domain.

Thats just awesome! I might have to convert mine to that style bike for a while till this winter when it get overhauled!

Is it very comfy to ride with the springs chopped down and the solo seat? I need to get on the bay and find me a seat for mine. I got the bars coming in the mail any day now.

What did you do to mount that rear fender that dang close to the frame? I've always liked that look. Is there an easier way to lover these bikes rather then have the springs cut? I'd like mine to be set up like that! Anyways, just curious. Looks really good!
Yes it's a damn nice bike, yes it's in REALLY good condition, yes it would be a shame to chop it, BUT damn how cool would it look with ape hangers?

go back to begining of thread and read the posts, all your questions have been answered, yes, hte seat will cost you about 25-60 depending on what you want, and yes, you can get a pair of harley 11 inch lowering springs for a little under a hundred.

          Exhaust

I see one muffler is cut off, and one is left stock. How does that sound and perform? Me and some buddies were drinking some Keystones (the store was out of beer) in my garage and wondered what a 1100 would sound like with 4 individual straight pipes.

Well, i'll put it like this, the muffler isnt cut, it fell off while foolin around racing one day. And since that was the begining of season when that happen, and it's end of season now and I never bothered to put my cherry bombs on, then that means I REALLY like the sound of it. Much better response and sound is insane, it does backfire after full throttle and coasting down, but i clutch it to get rid of it. An oversized 3/4 washer would give me proper backpressure I hear and prevent that.

              Happy Accident

That's a funny story. Thanks for the idea. I'm pretty much done with riding at night here in mid-south Cali. 45 degrees, drizzle, and fog at 2am driving home is not my cup of tea. Now tis the season to take my 11 apart and see what rolls out this spring. Hope to make this 4 to 4 pipe thing work.

lol thanks Hideki, nice ride. Yea i like your stainless break lines, but i'm gona go cheap and just get the empty stainless lines and just put em over my existing, i think i saw them for like 20 bucks on fleabay. I also like your original floorboards, I remember seeing a pair off an xv650 (xvs? cant remember year, i remember it had hte brake cylinder on the floorboards so I could run a direct brake line to rear instead of trying to figure out how to extend the forwards around that wide motor) with shifter/break/master that look like they'd work out perfect for forward controls for this, great chop man!!
