  • Hot Pipes

I have a 1979 xs 1100 special. #3&4 pipes are hot bike starts fne and idles fine. A little power loss when you kick into 3rd gear. Carbs are in sync. I just bought the bike and noticed some of the fuel and vacuum lins are kinked any source to get a line routing pic short of buying a manual. I plan on selling this bike to pay for a bobber project that will start soon. Thanks for any help

    Hey Mike,

Go to the LINKS forum by scrolling down from the MAIN FORUM PAGE, not from the link in the left hand column, you'll find threads to links to Online manuals for many of the other specs you may need, torque specs, tuning etc.!!

There is a tech tip in the carbs sections with diagrams for the fuel line routing for the specials....IF it still has the OCTOPUS vacuum valve mounted to the carbs. The PO might have removed it?? The petcocks are gravity feed, both lines are FUEL, front are Prime, rear are On and Reserve. Lower inlets on carbs are FUEL, upper are float bowl VENTs, not to be capped off!! Check to make sure the petcock on the 3-4 side is flowing in ON, could be clogged or partially obstructed, same for fuel lines, inlet "T", etc.!

Are you talking about an HD or V-twin Bobber?? Folks have made their XS11's into Bobbers very nicely!! JAT!
