  • No turn signals

    1979 sx 1100
The turn signals will not work. With the key on the flasher will buzz. With engine running still no turn signals. switched out the flasher still the same. The bike had a faring and bags on it before I got it.All the bulbs are good ,fuse good wiring seems to be right.
    Thanks for any help

Make sure all the grounds to the signals are good. Check to make sure that the grounds were put back on properly. The grounds have a connector that goes over the bolt attaching the signals to the headlight/frame. Some POs have been known to put the connector against the rubber mounting isolater which defeats the purpose.

Anytime I've had problems with mine, its always been due to a poor ground.

Mike - You also have a flasher cancelling unit under the seat - back close to the TCI. Not sure if that would keep the lights from coming on, but if you're having signal problems, might want to check that also.
I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

You can take the emergency flasher and put it in the plug for the flasher canceling unit. fits 2 ways. 1 works 1 don't.

After checking everything else as said above, take the switch apart and take it lose from the handle bars. Spray some elect cleaner in it, and then some dielectric lube spray specifically for connections.

I just did this to fix my left blinker today.

Edit: you can test that power is going to the flasher too. It goes from flasher to the switch and the switch simply moves between one side, the other, or middle. If flasher has power and grounds are good theres only one other thing.(assuming bulbs are good )
