    wont turn over

new battery, different starter, different solinoid, sanded both ends of the ground wire, sanded both ends of the starter wire. Starter will spin outside of the motor. My only thing left to check is the starter wire and the ground wire for breaks? DADDY I WANT TO GO FOR A RIDE. Any help would be greatly apriciated.

You say the starter spins but does not engage the engine to turn it over?

Sounds like the starter clutch may be your problem.

      XJ

XJ, has "safety switches" which can fail and prevent starter from working.
Side stand, neutral and think it may have a clutch switch too.
I've never had an XJ but might check these first.

It will turn out side of the motor. It make the relay click. I unhooked the kick stand switch about 3 weeks ago. I keep wondering if it isn't the 2 wire that have gone bad (starter and ground). Maybe like half burned through or some broken wires or something. I may try the jumper cables direct tonight from the truck. (kinda like cpr paddles for motor cycles). Mine just did not have spark when the kick stand was down before, starter still turned. Keep the sugestions comming I want to drive to work on the bike tomorrow. not the gas hog.

Its turning outside of motor.....waht battery are using..bike battery? Is the bike battery good?

Did you check for voltage on starter wire?

Has it started since you removed the kick stand switch? Did you bypass the switch properly?

            Just a few questions....

brand new battery (1 wk). It worked for 2 weeks after the kick stand bypass. I am going to try new cables tonigh, to starter and to the battery.
