      Hi Ozmodius,
no, I tried to rob the stailess hoses from my XS650 onto my XS11SG and the bitchin' lower hoses were an inch too short. The top one may or may not fit depending on which bars you have. The least cost fix is two generics directly from the master cylinder to the calipers.
As I understand it, the MNS is an ordinary Special with a fancy paint job so yes, the rebuild kits should work.

        Thanks!

I've found a large variety of SS lines at Z1 enterprises. They go for about 20 bucks a line... I hope they work well.

          Hey Fred,

The 81MNS is a different Special, because they used some of the parts that they were going to use on the XJ on them. Like the Swirly mags, and the linked rear/front brakes, and so they have the larger dual rear MC.

And there was a recent post about the MC rebuild kits for the XJ are not available from Yamaha, nor any aftermarket sources, because the XJ and the 81MNS are essentially orphans, not enough made to justify production for this limited need part!?

You have to look closely at the PNM description, but it does state ONLY The 1980 MNS, the 79-81 Regular Specials and the 78-81 Standards....but NOT the 81 MNS NOR the 82XJ!

AND, if you look in the PNM XJ Chassis section you'll find front MC rebuild, but NO REAR MC Rebuild kit!

            Hi TC,
yet another thing I did not know, thanks for the correction.
If one was totally bitched for the correct seals is it possible to re-vamp the 81MNS brakes by using the parts from an ordinary XS11Special?
