Front forks and air

Hi all. I have looked for the air inlet on the forks on the Timemachine, a '78 XS1100E. The manual has an arrow pointing to a location, but I will be danged if I can find it.

Was the air feature for the front forks on all models, standard and special? Any help here would be much appreciated!

78-9 std. no air, spring preload adj. only. All specials + 80-1 std. had air valves.
