80 special gas tank

Anyone know off the top of their head if an 80 special tank will fit on a 79 special?

Off the top of my head, I think the specials are interchangeable between years. Double check part numbers on the yahama fische.

Thanks. I thought of that after I posted. Numbers match except the last 2 digits. If I am not mistaken those are the year code.

I think the last digits on the tank numbers are the colour codes.
