  • Show us your exhaust!

I've searched this site for two days now looking for pictures of exhaust systems. I've found stories of the usual suspects like Mac and Jardine, and a few unusual suspects like Motad and Marshall. Unfortunately many of the picture links are lost...so no visuals.

So...here is my call on this 4th of July for all good XSer to stand proud and post a picture of your exhaust system Let this be the spot where everthing you wanted to know about exhaust systems, but were afraid to ask, is located

Pictures are what I'm looking to see. I've had enough of going out to vendor website to a 4 into 1 either not mounted on an XS or a picture so bad I can't really tell what it would look like

Along with the picture, tell what you know. Such as, manufacturer and model, ease of oil change, center stand use, quiet, mellow or loud, modified from original, dyno performance results, or anything else.

Two things for certain my search has found is that performance exhausts for XS1100s are more rare and vendors don't answer emails about it

    Later
My heros have always been flat trackers.

I would just like to say to all you with Kerkers...*(*$##*$_$*&%)(#%&()!!!!

      I want one so bad!!

Oh well. It looks like the only performance exhaust still available new is the X-pipe MX3. If they are still available when I finally do the big overhaul, I am going to get one. That or find a decent Kerker (yeah right) and get it re-coated.

.... they are still available when I finally do the big overhaul....

Geez that's a good looking exhaust ... I wonder if anyone here is using it? I have seen several other posts about it over the years but had forgotten the name of it. I we want one, we probably ought to get one while the gettin's good.

I like that Maxi-X exhaust, I found the site, but it doesn't have a price, anyone know how much they run?

Dennis Kirk has Mac 4/1 for $314. They say it won't block the center stand, which is always nice.
I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

Jardine 4 into 2s (Spaghetti's) are a little louder than the original exhaust and gives better performance. But when you replace the baffles with the Vance & Hines baffs, this exhaust gives outstanding performance.
The only problem that I have with them is that I am capable of leaning into corners further than these exhaust will allow.
(Not really a problem for most people tho.)

These where kinda expensive in there day at $500, but no longer available.

                          Say NO to center stands....

When i was in high school(1985) i bought a slip-on Mac exhaust pipe from a place i believe called Starcycle in CA.I put it on my XS400 and thought that was the greatest thing.I sold the bike to a friend and within 6 months the slip-on had pitted and started to rust on the surface. My other friend put Jardine on his Honda.that did the same thing. My Kerker that i put on back in 1986 has still held up.It might not be the best looking thing now but back in 1986 i think it was.

As for the other part of this-I have to remove the exhaust to change the filter but can leave it in place just to drain the oil.I have to use a 17MM box wrench to remove the drain plug(stripped the original plug)other than that.exhaust still to this day is the best thing i have put on it.
