    The beast lives

Used a valve out of my old head. Only the number 3 intake was bent. Lapped in and shim adjusted. Head went on ok. Everything else went ok as well I do still need to rebuild one petcock as it will drip when turned off. Fired right up let it warm up some turn off choke blipped the trottle a couple of times and once got a horrible grinding noise that almost caused my heart to stop. It did not repeat this. I drove it home, it is about a 70 km drive from the cottage, where I was doing the work on it. It sounds noisy but with that big windsheild that I put on it and my level of paranoia I think it is likely OK. It was getting dark so I just parked it when we got home. But I did stop for gas on the way and it seems oil tight. The new clutch feels really good but I have not horsed it hard yet to see if the slip is gone. Had it up around 160kms a couple of times and it felt fine. I will likely readjust the cam chain very soon as that was what started all this. Plus the new ones strech pretty quick. I just love that old girl there is sure something about them. I have owned more bikes than I can remember but I have never liked riding any of them more than this one.
