  • Homemade inner fork tube holder thingy.

I gotta replace a fork seal and cannot find the thread on the stuff I need to make the "holder" for the inner tube. Yall 'member, all thread with a couple of nuts on it. I had made one for my last fork seal job and it is lost in the bowels of the mancave. Please help. I have a new member that wants to come over and "observe" and I need to put on a good show and act like I know what I am doing.

I have found that I can loosen the bottom bolt first, by leaving the wheel on the ground and the triple tree bolts tights. Once the bolt is loosened, or even removed, things go fairly smooth.

                homemade tool

Om my 81 Special the tool was not needed I believe its the same on the 80 as well, there is a bolt going in to the side of the tube, if you leave that in it holds the bottom piece and you can unscrew the allen at the bottom with no problem,,turns out on my 81 there isn't anything for that tool to thread onto either. I will check my shop manual and send the picture if I can.
