1981 XS 11 Midnight Special Production Numbers

    Hi,

Does anybody know where I can get production numbers for a 1981 XS 1100 Midnight Special? I just bought a bike that I put in the for sale section and I would like to know how many were produced that year so I can get an accurate idea of the value. I read on one web site that there were only 250 produced, but I know that can't be right. This bike only has 6115 original miles and I believe it even has the original tires which are in great shape considering. I found it while shopping for a daily rider and I think it should go into somebody's collection because it seems a shame to put more miles on it. If anybody has a suggestion on the value let me know. I have seen them go for anywhere from $800 to $3200 depending on the mileage and condition, but I have not seen one with this few miles on it. Thanks,

      Thanks

That helps a little, I think mine is 328, now if I just had the ending numbers I would have what I needed.

Anybody Have A Higher Number Than 1038?

I did a little research and the highest number I could find is 1038. If anybody has a higher number I would appreciate it if you could let me know.

        Thanks,

        Sean

This is what I found out from Yamaha about the 79's and the numbering of the bikes.
