  • Newbie has a couple questions...

...Newbie here, just picked up my '82 XJ1100, running great however there does not seem to be an oil cooler on the bike, should I be concerned? I noticed what looks like some sort of oil journal/tap on the front upper portion of the case/block? Most likely where the oil cooler fastens?

...I also need to get myself a manual as well any recommendations? Clymer, Haynes?

More questions on the way but this oil cooler thing has me stumped. Thanks,

    TD

    oil cooler

I don't think you would need an oil cooler being in Canada and all. I run my XS's with no oil cooler and I live in Florida. No problems yet. XJ manuals are hard to come by. I think someone has them on a CD on here. Do a search. That plug on the far left side of the engine is the port for the yics system for synchronizing the carbs. The other plug located left center is for an oil pressure guage. The oil cooler lines would normally hook to a spacer between the lower engine case and the oil filter housing. HTH

Thanks for the info Axel, the link to XJ Manual CD's doesn't seem to work from XJCD, is there another link you can recommend. Will the XS1100 manual work just as well except for the differences with the Maxim?

                Hey,

Let us know when you get that Maxim on the road and we can all get together for Ride!

                Cheers,

                Paul

PS. I have a factory manual for the XJ11 that you're welcome to borrow. For most regular maintenance items there is plenty of info on this site.
