  • XJ Turn signal Question

Hello all, I have a favor to ask...

Can someone with a stock XJ1100 pop the cover off one of the front turn signals and let me know if the bulb is a single or double element?

I got a wiring diagram and it shows 3 wires going to the bulb (one ground which would be the body of the bulb) and two others, which seems to indicate that they are double element bulbs and that they operate as running lights AND turn signals.

I think the signal stalks on my bike are aftermarket. The bulbs are single element and the wires are way too long.

Thanks to whomever checks this out for me.

    Yes it's a dual element #1157 bulb.
One for running lights, the other for turn signals.

Cruiser has it right; on the XJ the front OEM set-up is 3-wire for running and turn signals plus the common ground wire. Rear lights are single filament, turn only, as the tail light doubles as running lights.

Its legal as long as the turn lights work, but if you want the extra visability and OEM wiring you may want to look for an OEM or aftermarket set that has the 3-wire functionality.

I don't know how close they are to OEM, but Partsnmore.com has them for $10 each. The front and backs are the same part number on the XJ.
