  • Mad Mosquito Dyno Pull

Hey this is the Mad Mos putting down 76 RWHP and 58 RWTQ. Not too shabby. When he finished I heard him say 58 and I was really disappointed until he said that was the torque. My Dad's Roadstar laid down 67 HP and 91 Lbs Tq. Unfortunately all the others from the 2nd meeting of the XSive minds did not make it to the dyno's. You guys missed out! One mechanic there knew instantly what my bike was and said that was the first motor he ever took apart. I got lots of good info from him. My bike might have done better but it's got a pretty bad 4k rpm stumble. It's not really noticeable on the street cause I can just back off a little to avoid it. The air/fuel show's it's way rich at the point it switches from the pilots to the mains.

Special thanks to GNEPIG for getting my carbs sorted out. I couldn't have made this trip without your help.

    Hi D-B,

Good figures for stock(ish...) Seen worse! Mine made abour 70 with stock carbs and modded pipes, and 90 with the new carbs on and sorted out.

      GNEPIG,

Here's the Dyno print out. If you watch the video you can see the bike jumping around at 3-4k. It sounded and looked a lot worse in person! The guy said it probably would have posted better numbers without the stumble.

It's a beautiful here in Oklahoma City so I couldn't resist taking a picture in the parking lot....

Yes, looks like you need to put in smaller main jets, the fuel line is supposed to be between 13 and 14. Below 13 is to rich and above 14 is to lean. Raise the fuel line at the big end and it will go up in the middle where the needles are transitioning from the midrange to the main jets.

The way your carbs are set up now seemed lean on my bike, but my bike has a very good set of 4 into 2s on it. Your 4 into 1 is apparently way more restrictive.
Try a set of Mikuni 142.5s and see how that works. Or remove the baffle and check out what that does.

I have noticed that the 4 into 1 exhaust seems to have an inherent dip at right around 4 to 5000 rpms on our bikes.

Here is a thread that I played around with two years ago, where I compared a couple of exhaust of mine with others exhaust.
There might be a way to tune the dip all of the way out, but I didn't play around with it long enough.
