can I crank engine with car battery

I don't have a battery here and I don't want to spend the money until I know this bike will turn over. Can I crank it using my car battery just to be sure it isn't siezed up? I've cranked by hand and it doesn't move without some effort. I want to crank it with battery to see if I can build up oil pressure since maybe the bearings are just dry.

Yeah, that will work, providing your jumper cables are heavy enough. It will turn over easier if you remove the spark plugs.
