I went to my storage unit today and went to start the bike.#2 carb(2nd carb body from clutch side)leaks a little gas when sitting for any length of time.It doesn't do it when its running and only that carb body leaks from the side facing the airbox.I turned the petcock to off but it will still leak.I started the bike and drove to my Moms house 8 miles away.It started to shudder at around 2 miles into the ride.I continued to ride and finally reached the house.I immediately sprayed water on all 4 cylinders.#2 was slightly warm at best.I took out all the plugs and all were a very light brown except #2 it was wet with gas.I took the spark plug wire for #2 and took off the cap and cut a small piece off the end and reinstalled the cap.I replaced the plug and started the bike.I sprayed some water on #2 cylinder and it was as hot as the other cylinders.Could this have been my problem with the cylinder not firing hence the wet plug? Took the bike for a drive after installing new plugs and all were a light brown color. But my biggest concern is the #2 carb leaking.

sounds like a stuck/misadjusted float or a malfunctioning float valve.
by now you might have gas in the crank case and the oil will need to be changed.
The carbs will need to come off so you can inspect the float valve assembly and figure out why it's leaking.
hope that helps...

Sounds like you may have sorted out part of your problem by clipping off the sparkplug lead and reattaching the plug cap. Now, get the leaking float valve and the leaking octopus fixed and you'll have it made.Ken Talbot

I dunno, I just use a sharpee when I get new boots and mark them on the toes with an "L" and "R". That way I always have a reference.Ernie
