Petcock Question

OK Stupid Question Time...

I just got my bike back together and before I start her up I was wondering....

Is the handle on the petcocks the pointer or is it the opposite side with the little line on it?

It's been a while since it's been running and I've only ridden it once to get it home and I don't remember which way the handle is supposed to point to each position.

I don't have an owner's manual either so....

The handle covers the function on the retaing ring that has the different functions on it.
