  • Carb parts from PartsNMore.com

    Hi all,
New poster here! While digging around to find rebuild kits for my newly gotten XS11E, I stumbled upon the Partsnmore.com website. Cool stuff, but the carb parts page is really confusing! They list float valve assy for the later Hitachi carbs, but not for the earlier Mikuni carbs ('78-79) and on the same page they SHOW the early carb kits, but list them as the later stuff?! I wrote them an email with these same questions and was told they "do not stock the earlier kits, only the '80-81 kits". OK, but the kit pictured IS the earlier kit!! They also stock a OEM#1J7-14190-20-00 float valve assy and gasket# 2A2-14981-01-00 listed to fit the XS750D-F. My dealer confirmed these numbers also fit the '78-79 XS11.
My question here would be....doesn't Partsnmore know what fits what on their website?

I see what you mean about their carb page being confusing, they list "Fits XS1100 (80) XS1100E/SE (81)"...well...If'in I'm not mistaken, there is no such thing as an SE (Special 8) and the XS1100E is 78, not 80.

However, the float valve does *appear* to be the 78/79 screw-in type.

Personally, I have never seen a Hitachi set of carbs on an XS, but I've only seen a small handful at best. My current set of carbs are from what I believe to be an 81 Special, and they are Mikunis.

There are no Hitachi carbs on any XS all are Mikuni carbs. The 78-79 are different than the 80-81's. The carb kits are very different.

No sure why they list what they do..email and enlighten them

Sorry for the confusion, you are correct about the Hitachi carbs.....what I get for listening to a "helpful" parts counter guy!
I wrote Partsnmore regarding the confusing XS11 carb page and it does seem that they had no idea anything was wrong at all. The email I recieved from them stated that they would carefully look into the problem and get me the correct kits for my '78. OK, cool.
Guess we'll see just what happens.

Maybe this will help. I just got a set of four rebuild kits from dennis kirk last week. Don't quote me on the exact price.
          Around $25.00 each. I got a credit for $26.00.
They showed on the invoice $18.99 now.
          COOL!
I haven't checked them out much yet but it looks like they still have the one jet that is to big.

            Hey Ace,
If they are K&L carb kits be very wary of the pilot jet. The ones in the K&L kit for my 81 special were not numbered, and made my bike run very rich (Plug Fouling rich). You can order OEM mikuni pilot jets from dennis kirk like 4 for $10.00 or so. The rest of the jets in my kit were numbered and were the correct ones.
good luck on the carb work

              Ray,
I've delt a with ParstnMore four times now and been real happy with everything. And good prices to!
I'm pretty impressed they awnsered your email right away and sound like they care.
Can this be true in this day and age?

The k&n kits from Dennis Kirk are $24.99 in the book. I ordered four for XS 1100 E. The came in the mail and are now $18.99.
Yesterday I got a check for $24.00 credit!!!

Yes it looks like the pilot jet is still the same, to big.
But this kit comes with more parts than ParsnMore.
This is why I got the kit from Dennis Kirk.
And the list at Parstnmore for carb kits confused me!
              That doesn't take much!
