  • carb parts needed

I am trying to find new needle jets and jet needles for a set of carbs from an 1979 xs 1100 special.
Mikes xs sells parts for the 650 but the look a little different than the ones I have.
    Any ideas ?

    Pics..

I have carb parts, but I don't have a way of matching what you want except pics. Can you post a pic of the part in question? Do you have some you want to replace, or do you have one or more and you need more?

I've been looking for the same thing, exactally from 79 special and everything. You won't find them new anywhere I've searched high and low and I can't find anyone that sells them. Your only choice is to get used ones and hope there better then what youve got.
I'm not sure where Mikesxs gets theres but its possible whoever supplies their discontinued jets might have ours too.

The needles are marked 5GZ6 at the top, the needle jets are marked 266 x2 for cylinders #1 and #4. #2 and #3 are 301 x2.

planedick, if Mr Fixit1996 doesn't clean you out I need just one needle and one jet for carb #4, thats the 266 x2 jet.

This is where I got my kits from, just needed the gasket and float valves. Price seemed good, shipped in two days. Haven't checked out how good the needles are but after installing float seats and valves I still have a leak. I need to get back into them and find out why. BTW dealer wanted over $40 just for one float valve and seat.

        Worth a try though.

          z1

I got my 80 parts from z1 enterprises. Complete rebuild kit for about $18 each. I bought one for my 79 special for about $17. They went up to $18, but it's a great deal for a complete rebuild. The same kit goes for 50-70 on fleabay.

I just needed valves and needles...this wasn't much more. Why not throw all new parts while you're at it?

Gotta agree with AustinPhoenix - Why not put new parts in while you've got 'em off. When you say needle jets, are you talking about the slide needles? If you are, they're the same for the '80 650 G and the '79 1100 SF. Yamaha's fiche can tell you pretty quick of the parts are interchangeable.

I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

Just checked the fiche and the part number for a 650G is 2H7-14116-12-00

The number of a 79 SF is 2H7-14116-06-00

Close but different. The parts from mikes XS will work, if you search you'll find another thread but you'll have to do some major re-jeting because the 650 jets are like .04mm larger inside then ours are.

No big deal, I just didn't want anyone jumping up and ordering from Mikes and then having the wrong jets. I almost missed it myself, then I double checked with the xs parts cross reference site and thats what made me take a closer look.
