  • oil pressure

Has anyone ever gauged the oil pressure on the 79 special. When I first bought my bike The oil light was on so I purchased an oil pressure gauge and took a reading. The bike was stationary and I ran It for about 3 minutes. The initial reading was 55 psi and climbed to a high of 70, then fell to 35 where it remained. I'm wondering if it might have continued to fall. Has anyone ever monitored the pressure why the bike was in use and what was the lowest pressure you observed?

    thank you, Rob Carroll

        Monitor it

I monitor mine all the time with an oil pressure guage mounted on the left side of the engine.

The oil light is also a warning light for the "light checker" If it comes on, check your brake light. Or, just play with the connections on the unit. It is just foward of the battery on the left side of the bike
