      planedick:

Forgive me for asking, but inquiring minds want to know.

Your reply said that you changed your float heights from .875 in. (22.23mm) to .975 in. (24.765mm). This is still a little bit higher (fuel level) than the 1.012 in. (25.7) that the book calls for. Is it that your machine runs a little bit better with more fuel in the bowls than the book calls for?

        There still is

some concern about the method of measurement. I turn them upside down and measure where the floats rest. There is more movement before the float is pressing the pin against the port. Tell me where the measurement is to be taken. I have not found a referance to this at all. The float will rest on the spring or you can push it more before it really is against the plunger. I think the proper method would be the clear tube method, but my carbs don't have any way to hook up tubes and I think it's such a PITA to have to do it that way, so I got them way closer to stock than they were.

          float measurement

The measurement should be taken with the float resting in it's natural position. Do not press it down further to compress the spring in the needle valve.
