  • Just another interesting carb problem

I could't get the No. 2 carb to idle right. Off come the carbs, low and behold!!!!, the needle jet for that carb is broken off in the carb body.
So Who has fixed one of the these????
The needle broke flush with the top of the hole and the bottom is pretty close to flush on the bottom of the hole. double bummer!!

Can you drill it out if you are careful?

          It didn't work!

I've tried several different 'methods" to get a stuck point out.
In lower right of pick is a tap that I ground down.
Hold with vice grip, give vice grip a tap. I have removed several pointy things with it

If interested in trying...PM me your addy and I will drop in mail.
          NEED to return when done.
Last one I sent out sorta disapeared

            None of that worked!

I tried drilling it out with a No. 68 carbide drill bit. the shank of the drill is .125" and the needle hole is .176", so I found a small aluminum standoff, drilled it to .125 and ground the outside to about .172". This bushing then, should have centered the drill bit in the needle hole. It didn't. the drill drilled a hole about 4 thousands off of the broken needle and went right through the carb body into the venturi. I tried a second one and it broke.
MRO, I don't need you to ship me your tool, I can make one, But your generous offer is overwhelming, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So now back to the laboratory, the experiment continues!

              Ya know, MRO....
I've sent things out "on loan" that somehow, never materialized back in my garage.

I think that it's time to start posting names.
