  • bad or not running xs11

I checked my bike out today. Know what I found wrong with it? 1. the starter is bad.Tried to tell them at the shop. 2. I need a handlebar switch (right side).3. They really buggered up my wiring. So I need a starter, right handlebar switch for a 78 XS-11. Keep your eyes open . Where can I get the above ? Thanks.

Ebay is always my first stop. Next, check if there are any local cycle salvage yards. If that fails, you can always call "Steve's Cycles" in Tifton, GA. They have a very large stock of bikes but can be a bit overpriced. If all else fails, you can hope that there is NOS (New Old Stock) hiding at a Yamaha dealer like Zanotti's.

I'm sure the other more experienced XSers have more to offer than myself.

1 day left on a starter on ebay:

You can make an online inquiry for a parts quote, or you can call and ask for John in Internet sales. I haven't ordered from them in awhile, but they used to give a small additional discount if you provided the part number. Here are some online sources for XS11 microfiche that can provide the part numbers you'll need.

There is a place called http://www.cyclewareables.com that has $68 starter rebuild kits which have mounted brushes, bearings, bushings. I have only bought brushes there, they probably weren't the cheapest but they were the real McCoy. Best of luck! I got no tips on pushing these things up a hill.

Are you certain you need a handlebar switch or is yuor start button broken. These buttons break after time, and metal replacements are avalible from Tkat (tkat@tkat.com). I may have a extra right control, i will try to make it out to the garage this week to look.
        I will let you know.
