I have not had a working fuel light for close to 15 years. What is required on my SG to make it work? The connection was cut off and i see 2 wires that used to connect it to something-but what?

In the harness i see 2 wires- a dark green and a black wire-thats it.No other wires on tank just 2 prongs where you could put a connector.1980 XS1100 SG

Those two prongs are what you need. You should be able to use some insulated female spade type butt connectors on some 16 gauge wire, black and green, if you prefer, to connect to the sender, and then at the harness, make a new connection with the black and the green wires there. Are they in a white plastic connector?
