  • 1981 Rear Master Cyl.

Does anyone know of a Rear Master Cyl. off another Motorcycle that will work.
I am thinking about making a bracket and using one from a Newer bike, (Proly Sportbike).

Would a Different Master Cyl. be able to stop this Big Heavy Machine Easily?

    Thanks
Also, does the carb vacum plugs, Part#48-1447 from Mikes fit the XS1100?

    master cylinder

Hi, just my opinion but the factory unit is plenty strong, if all the other components are up to spec. Old flexy rubber brake hose, cheap brake pads, unsmooth rotor, dirty fluid-maybe semiclogged cylinder can cause weakness in braking. Maybe check those, usually most xs,xj's can lock up the rears. The fronts tend to need help,ie-stainless brake lines, good pads, etc....so check the orig. pads, rotor, flush the lines.....anyone else chip in info.????? Mike in S.D. CA.

          blind plug

Those 48-1447 caps from mike's xs should work. BTW, you can buy those at any auto parts store. HTH.

            Ok Thanks.

            Another Question:
My Clutch will disengage with the bike not running, but when it IS running it won't and grinds when I shift.
And when I let the lever out with it in gear the bike shakes.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
            Thanks!

              clutch

Clutch probably needs adjusting. Search for clutch adjustment, there are plenty of threads.
