  • M/C Lift

For all you XSives that are wanting a M/C lift jack, and live in areas where there are "Schuck's Auto Supply" stores.... They are listing M/C lift jacks for $59.99 ea. from March 02, thru March 15!!

I know that there are Schuck's Auto Supply stores in Washington and Oregon, but not sure about other places..... They list a ph# 1-888-724-8257 to locate a store near you.

Now that is a pretty low price for a M/C lift.....right?

Well I went to Schuck's today, March 03,'03 to buy one.
The clerk told me they were OUT! of stock.... but, I could put my name on a waiting list till some came in again. I was really _issed!
I took the Schuck's ad with me and went to Sears.....

Sears is selling basically the same lift for $119.99!
I asked to speak with the Mgr. in tools. I asked if Sears would match the Schucks sale price?

I was quite suprised when the Mgr. said that they would not only match the price, but give me an additional 6% off(called a Price Match Guarentee). After sales tax, I ended up paying $58.15.....!

I realize that the lift is difficult to use with the XS, but I can service my ridin mower.....Lol!

Maybe someone else can benefit too.

I have M/C lift very similar to the Sears/Shucks unit (Costco). It is great. My dirtbike fits right on. I had to make a special adapter to get the XS on it. These lift have two(at least) great advantages.

    1) You can work on your bike, sitting on a stool, with the carbs at eye-level.

    2) The bike can be moved around the shop with ease.

      Dennyz,
You commented, "I had to make a special adapter to get the XS on it."

Could elaborate further about your special adapter with some details, design, etc., maybe pics??

I expect to have to rig-up somethin for my scoot as well......

      Thanks.

Kmart currently has lifts on sale at their store closings. They are AC Delco brand, originally $99 but marked down to $79.00. My local store had nearly 60 of them so there shouldn't be any problem finding one.

          XS adapter

Making an adapter to use the list on an XS is not trivial. There is very little room between the bottom of the bike and the top of the lift (when all the way down). It my case I have a 4:1 header, making the clearance even lower.

I made my adapter our of scrap aluminum, welding mounts to contact the frame where ever possible, then welding them the all together into a single unit.

To use it I had to have somebody hold it up to the bike, while I slid the lift under. I have since installed a new muffler and header pipe. The adapter now does not fit, requiring some modifications.

Here is what I have learned:

a – Must have 4 frame contact points.
b - Must be able to hold it's self on (don't need the extra person)
c - One for each configuration of XS (exhaust system)
d - Must be strong (XS is heavy)
e - The center stand and kick stand get in the way
f - Must locate as far back on the frame as possible for good balance.

I am going to make a new adapter with what I have learned. Having the XS on the lift is such an advantage, I feel it is worth the effort.
