MRO, I understood what you meant. I'm not sure if its that critical with the 79 needles as the contact point with the float is spring loaded and they don't have the clips like the newer ones. I always thought that design was to help them self centre in the seat bore. Will check it out though.
I had a look at the gaskets and the floats seem to easliy clear them and I can't see them catching on the bowls. Mind you I only checked the bowl clearance by sliding the bowls on and off with the floats closed so they may be catching when open.
Next chance I get I will go over them all again
