  • what type of oil for shaft for an 82xj11?

Just wondering what type of oil to use and how much, for the final drive and shaft on my 82xj11. Thanks again.

I use castrol synthetic 75W-90 in the final drive, and don't forget your middle drive. It needs gear oil too. In fact, I just got back from the parts store with 2 gallons of 20W-50, two oil filters, and two qts of the 75W90. We have two bikes to get ready for a 1000 mile ride next week.

For the driveshaft splines, I use Honda's moly 60 paste. It's great stuff! Especially made for driveshafts and sliding surfaces. 60% moly! Buy it here:

        From the XJ repair manual:
        Middle Drive Capacity
approx .375L or .396 us qt.
        Final Drive
approx .30L or .32 us qt.

If you still have the plastic Oil Level dipstick/gauge from your tool kit, it measures both drives. Much easier
