Hi, I was wondering if there were any part that were inerchangable between the 2 bikes like the right handel bar control assembly. thanks

I'm not sure if they will interchange. Someone here said that they used the chrome switches from Mikesxs (650's only) and that they worked so its possible. They do have different yamaha part numbers though so they must be slightly different.
If you look in the links section there is a link to a cross reference tool so you can see which parts will interchange for sure. You can find parts by part number and then see what other bikes used that same part.1979 xs1100 Special -

The mikes switches will work, but you may have to move some of the terminals around in the connectors. The wire coloring should all be the same for both bikes. You'll just have to match up the colors. Kinda like wearing your Gr'animals...

AWESOME! thanks a lot I was looking at the ones on MIKESXS it looks like a nice site to bad it is not all for the xs1100 havn't found many sites that sell parts of them. i have got some things from partsnmore but they don't have near as much as mikesxs

You can use Yahama's online parts catalog to check what parts actually are the same between the models. A lot of the stuff is all out of the same parts bin.Comment
