  • BikerPhil Strikes again!!

My carbs were really acting up and Phil kindly offered to help me clean them. I think we (he) accomplished the task in RECORD TIME!!
By the time he got here at 9:30AM I had the seat off, airbox, tank and carb clamps loose. Then we went to work. Since I hadn't had the dubious pleasure of tearing down/apart the carbs Phil did most of the work and I mainly assisted, watched, and learned.
Let me tell you, we were synching them by 1:00PM!!!
And she is running mighty sweet now.
It had been running very rich since my mechanic cleaned them out in Oct '07 as evidenced by the black, but not oily, plugs. Then lately it started sputtering and hesitating until the mains kicked in. That's all gone now.
Oh yeah, we also discovered that my pick up coil wires are far from being in the best condition....next and very immediate project.
Unfortunately I didn't have the time to ride it much this weekend because I had to replace my water heater but that is fixing to change.
Rode it this morning and what a difference. My powerband is baaaaccckkk!!
From what I hear on the site and the problems folks encounter and the down time they suffer because of the carbs, this has to be a record setting time for carb cleaning. And we didn't cut corners, if it could be taken out and cleaned, we tore it down and cleaned it.
    Thanks again Phil.

    carbs

Runs a heck of a lot better now huh? Glad I could help you. How's it idleing? Any bog down off the line? After fixing those P/U coil wires, make sure they are routed away from the spinning timing marker plate, but not too tight so the advance plate works properly.
