  • SpeedometerTrouble

On Sunday we were crusin then all of a sudden my spdometer
    & odometer went south,
we were up around 100km then the
speedometer started to quiver then just fell to 0
I checked the cable and the conections on the fork, all intact.
Is there a fuse that keeps these units going?

The speedo is mechanical. The only two times this happened to me on Tsunami, the connector at the top of the cable had come loose. It had backed off just enough to pull the cable out of the speedo drive.

      YMMV

        Hey Sandy,

You say you checked the cable, but I'm thinking that you just checked to make sure it hadn't come unscrewed!?

You need to remove the cable at the speedo, and then spin the front wheel to see IF the inner cable drive spins. I'm suspecting that the cable got broken!?

You can also check the speedo with a drill and a piece of the inner drive cable....if it's broken, just pull out a piece and chuck in into the drill, and then stick the end into the speedo and spin the drill, you may have to reverse it, can't remember which way it should turn, but I think looking up into the speedo fitting, that it would CCW!
