The simplest would be to take the seat to a local upholstery shop and have them recover it for you. They can take the old cover off and use it for a pettern for the new one, or you can work with them to design something different.

      Second opinion here...
Do a search on "seat cover" and there is a company in Hurst, TX that makes a nice one. I have one on my '79, and I know there is at least one member here who has one on his XJ.

Sweet! Thanks for the leads. My lil' 550 has a cover from Saddlemen but I did not see one listed for the 1100... So I'll check with B&H.

I pondered the upholstery shop route... But they're expensive around here (a seat for the 1100 would run around 250 bucks). Plus, it kinda feels rewarding to DIY

I did order the cover from them and loved the work of it.. BUT. You almost need a pneumatic stapler that will shoot 1/4" staples. The hand staplers just don't have enough "Oomph" to shoot them into the plastic of the seat pan. The only other thing I found to work, was the slap-hammer type staplers, but putting the outside edge of the seat against something to stabalize it while I slapped the staples in, cut the outside edge of the material in several places.

It would be well worth it to take it to an upholstery shop when you get it and let them use their guns to shoot it on. It wouldn't take 5 minutes and would be worth what they charged.

Also, some glue the cover to the foam, some don't. B&H recommends to, so you might pick up a can of 3M glue especially for foam applications. Walmart sells it.

I took my SG and SH in to an upholstry shop in Kittery, Maine earlier this Spring and had them both done. Wish I could find the receipt but I think they were around $140 - $160 each.
