Need a rear caliper piston (or caliper)

I am pretty sure that you (at least!) need another piston......

There should be another "bellows" type seal on there; From the caliper body out to a groove in the piston. It looks to me like the piston is worn down right to the bottom of that groove...... Missing about 3/8" of steel...... I guess the disc is pretty scuffed up?..... The "raggy" bit of metal in the centre of the piston is all that remains of the rest of the piston.

Caliper body MIGHT be salvageable.... but it has been pretty hot; I usually rebuild EVERYTHING..... but I would probably throw this one in the trash.

Yeah, I had pretty much decided that this one was trash. Luckily, a great member here in my town is GIVING me one that he has.

Honestly, the people I have met while working with these old bikes are some of the nicest around.

Thanks again for that rear caliper. That thing is gonna save my bacon. I compared it to the one I have and just cannot believe that the PO destroyed that much of the piston.

Of course, now I'm probably going to have to replace the rotor as well. Do you know what year that slotted rotor you have is off of? I will try to find out if it will work. So far all I can see is that the part number for all the front and rear rotors on my '80G are the same.

I'm not absolutely positive, but I believe the SR500 front rotor is identical to the XS1100 rear rotor. I think the only difference front to rear is the thickness of the rotor.

I don't know exactly what year it's from. I believe that the slotted rotor was used on the 80 Special and 80 MNS. They were also used on all of the 81 and 82 1100's. It should work, if you think you can use it give me a call. If it won't work someone here will probably let us know.

ALL the XS1100 rotors WILL interchange. You can put a solid rotor off the earlier machines, and it will work.

There is a slight difference in the left and right slotted rotors. It is the direction of the slot. The right front and the rear rotor are excatly the same. They will have an R or L stamped on them. If the rotors are solid, then all three are the same. The XS650 uses the same rotors as the 11, bu the 750-850 does not. They are a smaller diameter.
