  • forgot to oil the bearings

I put my engine together last night and later realized I forgot to oil the crank bearings. These are the old bearings and they did have a light film of oil on them but is that enough or am I going to regret it?

A film of oil should be fine.

      Like Stralya said,

But you could also pull ALL the plugs, and leave the fuel OFF, and then crank the engine with the starter for 10-15 second bursts, long enough to see the engine light GO OUT! That way you will have pumped enough oil under pressure to get to the crank without the crank being under the stress of the engine actually running and such!!

        "Agree with T.C., Stralya, too"

In terms of oil on the bearings...
Not much difference between your bike now, and starting a bike that sat for a few months.
(But just to be safe... crank it till the pressure comes up.)

          whew.....

I was pretty nervous, since I actually put the engine in the bike and then started to review what I had done and - oh crap... I forgot to oil the bearings.......

Anyway, thanks guys.. I'll let you know how she goes in a week or so. I've got some more fiddling around with all the accessories and such.
