    Hey PPV,

9 views, and no replies?? Is this spare engine IN the frame or out?? Out of the frame, you could turn the engine up side down.
Could try a magnet fishing tool.

There is a prominent shelf area near the bottom of the chain tensioning levers, but it has a gap in the middle that leads to the bottom loop of the chain along with the crankshaft. If it doesn't get bound by the chain/crank shaft, then hopefully it'll roll off of the chain and down into the lower oil/tranny pan.

Good luck fishing from the top, but you'll probably have to pull the pan!

Might try one of those little parts grabbers if you can see it. I think TC's magnet idea would probably be easiest. If it's in the pan I wonder if you could use a magnet to move it over to the drain plug hole.

I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

Here's my earlier reply to a member who dropped a washer down the hole....

Only dropped one washer down the hole? You need to remove the oil pan first. Then, lay on your back on the left side of the bike with your feet towards the front wheel. Reach over with your right hand and put it up inside the open hole with your fingers forward. Chances are you will put your hand right on the washer. If you don't find it immediately, pat around with your fingers.

Been there, done that...Don't ask me how I know, I just do.

Really, I had thought someone would have commented on:

Never found mine - bike runs great. When I asked the same question a guy on here told me how he'd dropped one down there - took the bottom off ot look for the one he'd dropped and found two more and a couple of washers.

                    On bench

Would be real easy to take off the pan and fish it out if nothing else works.

                        I can feel your pain!

Once I dropped a wrist pin clip for my 500 triple that way and couldn't get it out, it ended up wedged between the crank and the case and I had to split the cases to get to it. Being a two stroke it didn't have an oil pan and it wouldn't allow the crank to turn, talk about close tolerance, between crank and case.

BUMMER ... and one way or another you need to get that bolt out ...
This is why it is very wise to plug all openings into the engine with clean shop rages when working on the engine.
